Parents' Association
The Culmore National School Parents’ Association (PA), established in November 2018, is a voluntary organisation comprised of parents/guardians of children in the school. We work closely with the Principal, Staff and Board of Management and provide a forum for communication between the parent body, the school, and the Board of Management.
We are delighted in Culmore National School to have a fantastic working relationship with the Principal, all the Staff and Board of Management and enjoy working collaboratively for the best possible education for our children.
We organise events and activities for the benefit of the children and encourage parental participation in all school events. We are funded primarily through fundraising and supported by Mayo County Council’s community grants which we apply for on an annual basis. For many years, schools have been experiencing the limitations of Department of Education grants and these are simply not enough to fund many of the initiatives the school would like to be involved in.
Some of the areas we have helped with to date are the purchase of new P.E. equipment, the purchase of reading books for the new Primary Language Curriculum, working with the Swinford Men’s Shed to provide new Buddy Benches and a Picnic Bench for the children, subsidising the bus for the annual school tour and providing selection boxes for the children at Christmas. Our fundraising activities to date have included an Easter raffle, our first ever Culmore 5K, a children’s Halloween Disco, 25 Card drives, Tesco bag pack and a Christmas raffle.
We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all our event partners, the entire school community and everyone who contributed and supported our events in any way for your generosity and for your continuous encouragement and support.
Regular updates on our events and activities will be provided on this website and at our “Culmore National School Parent Association” Facebook page.

The Parents’ Association consists of parents just like you, so we understand the demands on your time. Therefore, we welcome and appreciate any involvement with the Association and/or its activities. In order for us to continue to help support our children and our school, it is important to have new parents with new ideas involved in the Committee. The Committee meets at regular intervals during the school year and is elected at our AGM which is held in November each year. For further information please feel free to contact any of the current members.
